SERF (Society for Studies, Research and Manufacturing) is a French company specializing in the development and worldwide distribution of orthopedic implants. Founded in 1973 by Mr. André Rambert, an engineer, SERF manufactures and sells implants dedicated to hip, knee, and foot. In 1975, SERF gained worldwide recognition due to the innovative concept of Dual Mobility (Novae®), which was born from the collaboration between Mr. Rambert and Professor Gilles Bousquet, an orthopedic surgeon at the University Hospital of Saint-Etienne, France.
In 2008, SERF was acquired by the MENIX Group, a French holding company that brings together cutting-edge brands in orthopedics, dental implantology and Cranio-Maxillo-Facial surgery. In 2009, SERF became part of the MENIX Group and in 2012, the MENIX Group bought the company TEKKA, specialized in dental implants, which has now become GLOBAL D, the dental subsidiary of the group. As a result, the dental activity of SERF was transferred to GLOBAL D and the company focused solely on the manufacture and marketing of orthopedic implants dedicated to the hip and knee.
In 2014, SERF created Serf Extremity, a subsidiary specializing in the development of orthopedic implants for the foot. Additionally, in 2015, OneOrtho Medical joined the MENIX Group. The company specializes in digital technologies for the production of tailor-made implants and ancillaries, giving SERF an opening towards digital solutions in orthopedics. Since then, the MENIX Group has continued its export growth with the creation of its Italian subsidiary, SERF Italy, in 2019.
