The connections between the implant parts should be accurate, as it is critical for the success of the overall treatment. The prosthesis attachment to the implant is through the implant-abutment connection in the oral cavity. However, in the laboratory setup, implant analog provides that connection. It simply is an irreplaceable prosthetic part. It is identical to the coronal part of the implant denoted as the neck, which connects the abutment/attachment, ultimately providing precise and accurate connection to the prosthesis on the master cast and minimizing the errors in creating a dental prosthesis. The clinicians may attach the implant analog to the impression coping and together reposition it in the impression tray (indirect impression technique), else screw directly it to the impression coping present in the impression tray (direct impression technique).
