In dental implantology, the screw plays a central role in the success of prosthetic rehabilitation. There are a variety of screws depending on the type of prosthesis planned (cemented or screw-retained). The abutment screw is used to attach the prosthetic abutment, which supports the prosthetic crown, to the dental implant that is implanted into the bone. It is therefore the central element that connects the elements. Screws in implantology are very often specific to a particular brand or system. They are tightened with an appropriate prosthetic screwdriver and a torque wrench to control the torque. It is recommended to use a new screw if the crown is permanently screwed (single crowns) or if large bridges (full arches) are obtained.
