À Propos

Metoxit AG is a Swiss-based medium-sized company that has been providing high precision ceramic solutions since 1978. It specializes in the manufacture and processing of oxide ceramic materials and sub-assemblies, primarily for customers in the watch industry, the mechanical and electrical engineering sectors, and the medical industry. Metoxit offers a wide range of products made of high-performance ceramics, designed and developed in line with customer specifications.

The company has a long and distinguished history. Established in 1978 as a joint venture between Alusuisse and Tonwerke Thayngen, Metoxit began producing hip joint balls made from high-purity alumina and zirconium oxide by hot isostatic pressing (HIP), a revolutionary technique for the sector. In 1983, AGZ acquired the 50% stakes held by Tonwerke Thayngen and Alusuisse respectively and became the sole owner of Metoxit AG. In 1990-91, the FDA accepted the submission of a device master file for aluminum and zirconium oxide ball heads, and in 1993 the company entered the age of CAD/CAM technology. Blocks of zirconium oxide were manufactured for the first time in 1997-2000, and in 2003 Metoxit produced its first dental implant. The company experienced an enormous boom after pioneering the mass production of CAD/CAM discs in 2005, and introduced the Ziraldent Implant System complete with a Zircapore coating to promote rapid osseointegration in 2009. More recently, Metoxit has automated its manufacturing technology using robot cells and autonomous units. In 2018, the company celebrated its 40th anniversary, marking four decades of stability and Swiss Spirit.
