Dentists mostly use straight abutments for the restoration of ideally placed implants. Straight abutments commonly pose a tapered conical design, anti-rotational grooves, an internal hex connection, and a screw that secures it to the fixture. Clinicians may attach standard straight abutments in the posteriors and esthetic straight abutments in the anterior. For standard abutments, the margins remain supragingival, and achieving a good emergence profile is obscure. However, they are simpler to maintain and easier to inspect margins. Aesthetic cones allow a great emergence profile and are readily available as prefabricated abutments shortening the overall treatment time. The disadvantage being the uniform collar height, which fails to follow the contour of the gingival margin. It results in the collapse of the interproximal gingiva.
