Practitioners may use angled multi-unit abutments primarily for implants where the emergence axis is not suitable for prosthetic restoration. Positioning implants at a 30- or 45-degree angle avoids anatomical structures such as the maxillary sinus, mental foramen or mandibular nerve and sometimes reduces the need for bone augmentation. Angled multi-unit abutments are used in multi-implant restorations to harmonize the insertion axis of the future prosthesis. In addition, this type of abutment allows the connection between the prosthesis and the abutment to be raised to the supra/juxta gingival level, which reduces the risk of biological complications.
